Frequent Asked Questions
Validation:
A legal passport is required for entry into Tanzania. Please ensure your passport is valid for at least six months after the end of your planned safaris.
Kindly confirm with your departure country for visa requirements. Visas can be obtained at all points of entry and at the Embassies.
Suitcases:
Hard case and wheeled luggage are not recommended for your safari. We recommend a soft bag weighing a maximum of 10-15kg per person. A reasonable amount of photographic equipment is also allowed.
Immunization:
We suggested that you make sure all your routine vaccinations are up to date. Hepatitis A and Typhoid vaccinations are also recommended. Malaria prevention is recommended if you plan to visit areas of Tanzania below 1800m above sea level, for example, Rubondo Island National Park in western Tanzania.
Medium of exchange:
In Tanzania, the currency is the Tanzanian Shilling TZS. Visa and MasterCard are broad accepted, but American Express is not. US dollars printed after 2006 are also accepted.
Indemnity:
It is widely recommended that you take out all comprehensive insurance including medical, injury, delays, loss and damage of property and death. Africa Experience Safaris Will not held responsible for any such claims.
Obligation:
Every guest carried in the company’s vehicles is regulated by the several laws of the land, and all claims are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Tanzania.
Temperature:
The climate uncommon goes down below 20C/68F except in the highlands. Heavy rain falls in March-May and then again in November and December.
Power / Voltage:
In Tanzania, the voltage is 220-240 Volts (North American voltage is 110-120 Volts, so an adaptor is required for North American devices).
Travel Wear and Accessories:
Suggestions include weightless cotton trousers and shirts, cotton bush jacket/fleece, safari boots, hat, t-shirts, scarf, tissues, wipes, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, flashlight, travel alarm clock, and sunglasses.
Trekking Wear and Accessories:
suggestion include anorak, fleece, pants, short and long sleeved t-shirt, gloves, thermal underwear, hat, balaclava/woolen hat, walking boots, woolen socks, gaiters, crampons, sunglasses / snow goggles, thermal water bottle, headlamp, walking pole, toiletries, chronograph wristwatch, sunscreen, lip salve, Swiss army knife, hand towel, four-season sleeping bag, day pack, first aid kit and backpack cove
